The airfield monitors landings through webcams, ADSB/FLARM and a radio link.

All landing fees $15.00 per aircraft including GST.

Note no charge for overnight aircraft parking.

Landing fees not paid with 7 days by bank transfer, will be invoiced to the aircraft owner with an additional $50.00 administration charge. 

Overdue collection costs and further administration fees will be charged on overdue amounts.

Landing Fee Policy (Updated September 2025)

Landing Fee:

A landing fee will apply to all aircraft landing (Less than 50 feet) on the Omarama Airfield (NZOA).  For clarity, the operator agreements use the term “Take Off Fee” which is to include a glider that takes off from Omarama but may not land back at Omarama.  The glider and tow plane combination is treated as one movement and one landing fee is applicable to the combination and is to be paid by the tow plane.

Concessions:

The following concessions have been made to the payment of the landing fees:

1. Gliding Ab initio students, before their first solo, need only pay one landing fee per day for a series of training flights on that day.

2. Students in powered aircraft performing a series of touch and goes will only pay one landing fee per concurrent session while they only use part of the runway.

3. Winch launch failures and practice cable breaks where the glider lands straight ahead will not be required to pay a landing fee.

Landing Fee Charges:

1. As from 1 September 2020 the landing fee was set at $15.00 (Includes GST).

2. Failure to pay within seven days by bank transfer will result in a $50.00 administrative invoice fee being charged to the identified aircraft’s owner.

3. Landing fee charges will be reviewed annually. The adoption of new charges will be advised in June of the review year and will be effective from July 1 of that year.

Pre Paid Landing Fees:

Omarama Airfield Limited offers to private pilots the option to prepay for their landings for an aircraft at a discounted rate in order to minimize the administration costs for both Omarama Airfield Limited and the pilots.  This is one bulk payment per aircraft/pilot.  The following rates are to be prepaid as a one off annually from 1 July each year:

Up to 30 landings $300.00

Up to 50 landings $500.00

Up to 100 landings $1000.00

Pre paid landing/takeoff fees are granted entirely at the discretion of the company.  At the end of the financial year a washup process will invoice the balance of landings at the standard landing fee rate.
