Ethics and Code of Conduct
The ethics and code of conduct policy which governs Omarama Airfield Limited users.
Ethics and Code of Conduct Policy
Omarama Airfield Limited’s ethics and code of conduct policy is a set of rules and guidelines that govern the conduct of all individuals—passengers, airfield workers, pilots, and airfield users — to ensure safety, security, and a professional environment.
These policies are enforced by Omarama Airfield Limited’s directors and other personnel. Violations will be treated very seriously and could result in prosecution, or removal from the airport on a temporary or permanent basis.
-
Safety priority: Everyone must prioritize safety in all operations, adhering to aviation rules, airfield standard operating procedures and conducting thorough risk assessments.
-
Never joke about threats: Do not make any comments or jokes about carrying weapons, explosives, or other threats. Such comments are always taken seriously and can lead to prosecution.
-
Professional conduct: Everyone must act with integrity, respect, and courtesy towards all other airfield users.
-
Respectful communication: Use appropriate behaviour and language at all times to maintain a professional and positive image of the airfield and for its users.
-
Interruption of Aviation Users: At all times all airfield users must not interfere or distract aviation users which could adversely affect safety. For the avoidance of doubt this includes any behavioural activity which is non-essential, whilst people are preparing for, or in the process of flying, which could result in unnecessary stress or mental load. Any such conduct, which presents a risk of embedding into airfield users mental mindset, which may as a consequence, affect the safety of their operations or others, is expressly prohibited. Only conduct which is necessary, to prevent an immediate and present risk of danger, is acceptable. Any such conduct MUST be consistent with OALs Standard Operating Procedures. This policy will be strictly enforced. Any breach situation will be investigated and may result in a temporary or permanent suspension of access to the airfield property and its facilities. Omarama Airfield Limited has a zero tolerance policy around these issues, bullying or violence either mentally or physically.
-
No discrimination: Discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited.
-
Report misconduct: Airfield users are often required to report any behaviour that violates the code of conduct, airfield policies, or the law.
-
Airside rules: For everyone with airside access, there are strict regulations regarding vehicle operation and drug and alcohol testing. Breaches can lead to access suspension.
-
Compliance with Gliding New Zealand AC1-08 Welfare of Persons Involved in Gliding New Zealand will be strictly enforced.
-
Compliance with Gliding New Zealand AC-103 Anti Doping Policy will be strictly enforced.
-
Park responsibly: Do not leave vehicles unattended in unsuitable or operational areas.
POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS:
Ethical and code of conduct policies are legally enforceable, and violations can result in serious consequences.
-
Refusal of service: Omarama Airfield Limited can refuse access to users who exhibit behaviour that poses a risk to the aircraft or airfield users.
-
Criminal charges: Disruptive or threatening behaviour at the airfield can result in criminal prosecution and potential imprisonment and as such all incidents of a serious nature will be referred to the New Zealand Police.
-
Denial of access: In some cases, unruly airfield users/visitors may be placed on an airfield’s internal "no-fly" list, preventing them from operating at the airfield.
